Schools Gardening Scheme for primary and secondary schools
MOSELEY in BLOOM wants to encourage pupils, teachers, parents and parent-governors to work together to create, transform and sustain ‘greening’ projects on your school sites.
Consequently in 2018 MiB launched a new initiative to develop partnerships with local primary schools. Since then, we have funded a variety of exciting initiatives as pupils, staff and parents have worked together to develop their school sites. We have also been able to extend the programme to Secondary Schools.
Now into the fifth year of the scheme, we are looking to fund further projects for the 2022-23 academic year that will inspire and support pupils to develop gardening skills, and encourage them to understand their role in the quality and sustainability of their environment.
So, is there some unloved patch of ground that you could bring into fruit or flower? Can you make some raised beds to fill with great colours and scents? Are there corners of your schoolyard where birds can bathe and butterflies can alight?
MOSELEY in BLOOM is encouraging you to imagine a project, and we want to help you bring it to life. We are inviting all primary and secondary schools within the Moseley ward boundary or who have a B13 postcode to submit an application for up to £500 so that your thriving green space idea becomes a reality. Schools that have previously received a grant from MiB can apply again.

How we can help
We encourage you to register your school with the Royal Horticultural Society schools campaign. Information can be found at: https://schoolgardening.rhs.org.uk
How about visiting local public gardens and nature sites, to help pupils understand the value of green spaces for the community and environment, and to fire their imaginations!
